Pictured here is the Springfield Sultans 59Fifty Fitted Cap, produced by New Era. Here some team history. The Midwest League Waterloo Diamonds failed to secure a new lease agreement for their team after a  36 season run in Waterloo, Iowa. The circumstances forced them to relocated just two weeks before the start of the 1994 season.  Springfield Illinois, having previously lost their original Midwest League franchise to Madison Wisconsin, happily embraced the Diamonds. The team was renamed the Sultans of Springfield. The origin story of the name change remains a mystery. The Sultans didn't have staying power however. After just two seasons, the ownership moved the franchise to Lasing Michigan - renaming them the Lugnuts.  www.milbstore.com
