Brooklyn Dodgers 1947 Jackie Robinson Rookie Year Baseball Cap sold for $500K

One of the most astounding Grails from Sports History was recently sold at auction. Much more than just a baseball cap, this museum-worthy piece arguably ranks as one of the most exciting items that has been offered at auction.  Pre-dating the use of batting helmets, Jackie Robinson donned this custom-made cap during the 1947-48 period. As explained in a letter from Mrs Rachel Robinson, “the cap has three protective plates sewn inside the lining to protect his head from beanings,” Often opposing pitchers aimed at the young star’s head in the wake of the historic color barrier being broken. This piece reflects the tensions of the era off and on-field. This piece is attributed to Robinson's rookie year with the Brooklyn Dodgers. This piece offered at https://lelands.com sold for $590,994.00. Something for the history books and the record books!
